Is this using a translation service like Google Translate? How does it work if the translated string is too long?
Localization is a pain, but the cost barrier is pretty low (<$1,000) if a market is really important to you.
@jasongurwin We have quite a few translation providers to choose from (Google Translate, Unbabel, Premium, Gengo coming soon).
You're right, depending on the size of the app localization costs can be very affordable. Even more reason to get it done :)
@jasongurwin The other big piece here is the prevailing systems DONT DELIVER LOCALIZATION.
What is localization? I'd define it as the adaptation of a user experience for a new target user. That means taking into account language, culture, location, and actually making sure things make sense within the context of a mobile app.
We allow for our translation teams to source and review translations in the live, running application. This gives them the absolute BEST context and understanding of what the end user will eventually see. Right now we just handle language (but in a groundbreakingly-new way)... stay tuned for localization options for assets, colors, and even UI/UX flows!
Thanks
AJC
@sacbookreviewer Right now we just handle language. Any preexisting internationalization measures that you have custom implemented (manual handling of currencies or dates), will not be touched. Hope that clarifies.
Thanks for the question.
