Hi everyone I'm launching Islio here on September 1st, and I'd rather start the conversation now than on the day.
The short version: the notch on a MacBook is the most expensive dead area Apple ever sold us, while the same cutout on the iPhone became the Dynamic Island. Islio fixes that on the Mac. Hover the notch and it opens: music from any source, a shelf where files wait, clipboard history, screenshots with an editor, a converter, timers sixteen sections, all of them optional.
Two things I care about more than the feature list:
It collects nothing. No analytics, no telemetry, no account. The privacy policy fits on one page and the app matches it line for line.
It's native. Swift on Apple silicon, idles at 0.0% CPU. Not an Electron wrapper.
There's a live demo on the landing page a little Mac where the island actually works, before you download anything: islio.app
What I'd genuinely like to hear: what would you want the notch to do that it doesn't yet? I've built a few features purely because someone asked.
Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I made Islio because the notch on my MacBook was the most expensive dead pixel area I'd ever bought — while my iPhone's Dynamic Island actually did things.
So now the notch does things:
🎵 Music from any source — native apps and browser tabs alike
📎 A shelf where files wait: drop now, drag out anywhere later
📋 Clipboard history — one click pastes it back (stored encrypted)
🎙 One click mutes your mic in every app at once — mid-call sanity
📸 Screenshots with a built-in editor, a converter, timers, and more
The parts I'm most proud of are the ones you can't screenshot: it's native Swift, idles at effectively zero CPU, and collects nothing — no analytics, no account, no telemetry. The privacy policy fits on one page and the app actually matches it.
Works on every Mac and display — no notch needed, it draws its own island. One-time $9, three Macs, yours forever.
There's a live demo right on the landing page — a little working island you can try before downloading anything.
I'd love your honest feedback — especially what you'd want the island to do next.
