AI detector for teachers, tutors, schools, and students. Honest methodology that flags risky passages and generates evidence reports without claiming false certainty. Free to try.
Hi all, Paul here. I built Is It AI? after watching detector percentages get treated as proof, and students who'd done nothing wrong get accused.
So this is deliberately the opposite of a confident black box. It runs several detection signals together, highlights the specific passages that look AI-written, and explains in plain English why. It gives a confidence band, not a yes or no, because no tool can actually prove who wrote something.
It's free to use, it doesn't store student work, and it's built in the UK with privacy in mind. There are paid tiers for teachers who check in volume, but the core check is free.
I would really value feedback from teachers and anyone working in academic integrity: are the explanations clear, are they fair, and what would make this genuinely useful in a classroom? Thanks for taking a look.

How do you handle text that mixes AI-generated sections with heavy human editing, since it sounds like your tool flags risky passages rather than giving a binary verdict?

Tried it on a paper I know was written by a student and another clearly run through AI, and it flagged the right ones. Love that it shows exactly which passages look risky instead of just slapping a score on it.
