IOweU tracks IOUs between people — money, borrowed items, chores, favors. Either side creates the IOU, the other confirms, so there's no arguing later. Reminders when things are out too long. Free on iPhone & Android, Swiss-made, GDPR-compliant, in 14 languages.

the mutual confirmation system is honestly so smart, that alone would get me to use it over a spreadsheet. one thing i'd love is the ability to mark an IOU as settled with a note like "paid back via venmo on tuesday" so there's a paper trail if someone claims they already paid. keeps everything clean and avoids any he-said-she-said down the road
@tugayusluer This is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for — thank you. 🙌
Good news: the paper-trail idea is already partly there. When someone rejects an IOU, they can leave a note explaining why, so there's a record of both sides' side of the story. You've convinced me it shouldn't stop at rejections though — I'm adding the same "leave a note" option to settling and waiving an IOU, so you can attach exactly that kind of "paid back via Venmo on Tuesday" record when you close one out.
The whole point of IOweU is avoiding the he-said-she-said, so this fits right in. Really appreciate you taking the time — I'll follow up here once it ships.
Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Sean, a solo developer from Switzerland, and I built IOweU because of a problem everyone knows: my friends and I could never remember who paid for what, and my stuff — chargers, books, tools — kept disappearing into other people's homes forever.
Expense-splitting apps only handle money. IOweU tracks anything someone owes: cash, borrowed items, chores, favors, even "you owe me a cinema ticket." The key idea is that both sides confirm every IOU — one person creates it, the other accepts it — so there's no arguing later about what was agreed.
It's completely free, no ads, works on iPhone and Android, and speaks 14 languages. Swiss-made and GDPR-compliant, because your debts are nobody else's business.
I'd genuinely love your feedback — especially on what you'd want to track that no app lets you today. Ask me anything!
