[One or two sentences on why: what got you learning Gaelic, or who you built it for.] The thing I kept running into: none of the big voice services (Azure, Google, Amazon, ElevenLabs) support Scottish Gaelic, so most apps can't say anything they don't have a recording for. Ionnsaich uses Ceitidh, a real Gaelic voice from CereProc in Edinburgh, so every phrase is spoken in Gaelic rather than approximated by an English voice. What's in it, all free and without an account: • Today: one short session a day (word of the day, due flashcards, listening questions) • 13 lessons, from Hello and goodbye to The past and the future • 16 short listening conversations you follow by ear, then take a part in • Three games, flashcards, a quiz and grammar drills • Every phrase shown in Gaelic, IPA and an English respelling • An AI partner to practice conversation at your level • Works offline and installs to your phone On accuracy, straight up: Gaelic is a low-resource language and no AI translates it reliably. The 225 core phrases are written by hand against Am Faclair Beag and LearnGaelic and marked verified. AI answers are marked as AI.
