Do the seniors know they are talking to an AI companion and do they mind?
They always know they are talking to an AI and we remind them regularly. Do they mind? No is the short answer, not at all. They actually appreciate talking to Mary (that is the name of the companion) because she is kind and patient "unlike my childrens" (quote from a French user) and "she is always happy to talk to me" .
What a wonderful idea. I was just exploring some of the body doubling websites and wondering how to create something like those platforms for lonely seniors.
The exploration was born from my fathers recent passing and my mothers sudden loss and gain. Loss of her constant companion of over 55 years and gain of time, realisation that whilst spending years caring for him she lost her own friend group.
In the growing cohort of this age group I think that a choice and option of in person connection to others through a platform and Ai outreach conversation is fabulous.
I’m on board and happy to be an advocate and supporter and possibly even a tester

@jane_ss thank you for the comment and personal story. I created InTouch for my mother and bringing her AI, companionship, challenges, memory exercises in addition to my calls. She passed away three weeks ago and I will continue interesting and adding new services so that seniors can stay home. Indépendant and cognitively engaged as long as possible. You can set it up for free from our website for 14 days for her from our website https://Intouch.family
