Intent

Boost productivity by committing to your intention

Intent is a browser extension that helps you follow through on what you set out to do online. When you visit a distracting site, it asks for your intention - and re-locks the site if you drift. A mindful way to stay on track without cold-turkey blocking.

Hi Product Hunt!! I’m Ana, I built a browser tool that’s genuinely changed how I work and I’m excited to finally put it out there: Intent.

I needed a way to stay in control of my time by actually committing to what I came to do online. Existing site blockers felt too binary - either I’d bypass them or get locked out entirely. So I built a non-disruptive solution to support realistic workflows:

1) Distracting sites are blocked by default
2) To unlock one, you set your intention
3) If you drift from it, Intent re-locks the site and reminds you why you came

I use it daily. It gives me lightweight accountability that fits into how I already work. It helps me regain control without losing access to the tools I actually need.

If this resonates, I’d genuinely love your thoughts on the concept, the experience, or anything you think could make it better. Thank you for checking this out ❤️

Congrats on the launch :) 🎉

This is the smartest take on a focus tool that I've seen. I've always struggled with blockers where: hard blockers are so frustrating that I end up disabling the extension (Cold Turkey), while soft blockers become too easy to mindlessly bypass (Opal).

Intent seems to have cracked the balance. The approach of focusing on intention and constantly re-evaluating smartly is so well done. The design is so clean too and calming.

Would be awesome to see users specify a time in natural language like "I just need 5 min to check my facebook messages."

Asking for intention instead of hard blocking is brilliant - much more realistic. Does it learn which sites are actually productive vs distracting for each user?

Also launching today (ZenTrack) - upvoted!
