Maintaining a healthy weight was always a struggle for me ever since i stopped playing football (soccer for the muricans) semi-professional. I recently started again and had to loose some weight to get to a competitive level again. What really worked for me was keeping a calorie deficit. I downloaded an app to track my food and was immediately greeted with a paywall, a lot of unwanted coaching and way too much gamification. After a few months i was near my goal weight but tracking food with these apps just annoyed the hell out of me. i was paying 40 to 50$ a year just to track my food. This gave me the final push to build something better. I started to build Intake. A calorie counter without the bullshit. No subscription, you pay once and use it forever. No account, your data stays on your device. No coaching or gamification. Just a simple beautiful iOS experience without distractions.
