As value investors, we all know Warren Buffett’s famous rules: Rule No. 1 is never lose money, and Rule No. 2 is never forget Rule No. 1.
Over the last few years, I started finding fewer obvious bargains in US markets, so I shifted more of my research toward Europe and South Korea. There are some incredibly undervalued companies there, but investing internationally adds another layer of risk.
For me, one of the strongest indicators of downside protection is simple: skin in the game. If the executives running the company aren’t buying their own stock at current prices, why should I?
The problem was that insider transaction data across European and Asian markets is extremely fragmented. Every country has different disclosure systems, formats, delays, and reporting standards. Tracking it manually became a complete nightmare.
I couldn’t find a clean platform that combined:
* European insider transactions
* conviction signals
* cluster buying
* active buyback programs
* shareholder alignment insights
So I started building one for myself.
What began as a personal research tool slowly turned into something I now genuinely use every single day for my own investing process. Over time I added insider rankings, signal badges, active buyback tracking, and performance metrics to help surface the most interesting opportunities faster.
The goal with InsidersAlpha isn’t to encourage blind copying of insider trades. It’s to help investors identify situations where management and shareholders appear strongly aligned, especially during periods of market pessimism or large price declines.
If it helps other investors uncover a few hidden gems or avoid some bad investments along the way, then building it was worth it.
