inkling is an open-source, private personal AI assistant that lives in your WhatsApp. Add inkling to any WhatsApp chat, then text or voice-note it like a friend. It suggests spots, runs polls, finds a time that works for everyone and sends the invites. Open source: self-host it, and nothing trains on your chats.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 Joon and Nat here, building inkling in London.
We love AI assistants like Instinct. Then we read about the terms. TechCrunch reported that Instinct’s terms granted a “perpetual and irrevocable” licence to users’ content, including for training its AI models, and allowed it to enter binding agreements on their behalf.
We wanted that convenience with more control over our data. But most open-source alternatives are a pain to set up.
So we built inkling: your private, open-source AI assistant on WhatsApp.
💬 Lives where you already chat. Works in DMs and group chats. No new app, no waitlist.
🎙️ Understands voice notes. Say “inkling” in a voice note and it joins in.
📅 Turns chat into plans. Suggests places, runs polls, checks everyone’s calendars and sends invites with your approval.
✋ Asks first. Nothing goes out in your name without your “yes”.
🔓 Open source. Read the code, self-host it and keep control of your data. We don’t use your chats to train AI models.
The video is a real group chat with our friends roasting each other and organising brunch. Inkling suggests places in Shoreditch, follows along as we settle on Dishoom, then checks our calendars: “keerth’s busy till 11, everyone else is free. 11:30 works for all of you.”
Same banter. Less back-and-forth.

We’d love to hear what you think. What would you want inkling to handle in your group chat?
@jeehee_you Thank you! If you have any comments please feel free to join the Whatsapp community as well https://chat.whatsapp.com/G85NdIPPjrYCwUZMnCFv09?mode=gi_t
our entrepreneurs society committee basically runs on whatsapp lol, no one ever opens notion. planning anything turns into 50 messages of 'when are you free'. honestly might add this to our chat, congrats guys
