Cybersecurity is a persistent, high stakes challenge: demanding significant time, resources, and placing constant pressure on teams working against tight scopes and deadlines. No human team can realistically catch every vulnerability within such constraints. AI offers the potential to close this gap at scale: continuously learning, adapting, and uncovering novel vulnerabilities and exploits to strengthen system defenses. We aim to leverage the potential of open-source models to make AI cybersecurity agents more affordable and adaptable to every organisation's needs. In addition, we are pursuing novel research to develop more cost effective approaches to model training. Realising this potential responsibly requires equally serious attention to AI safety. Robust safeguards and guardrails must be built in from the outset. By prioritising open-source development, transparent research, knowledge sharing, and commoditisation, we can help prevent concentrated control over this technology ensuring it serves and benefits humanity broadly, rather than a select few.
