Hello to all my fellow DevOps engineers! We're excited to be launching the brand new, Indeni Cloudrail, Visual Studio Code extension today to bring better infrastructure security into the hands of more developers. If you're not familiar, Cloudrail is a command line tool and application that allows you to identify vulnerabilities in your infrastructure as code. We use a combination of analyzing your live cloud environment in addition to the code you're working on locally to build a comprehensive picture of where your infrastructure vulnerabilities are, and also where they're not. For me, I like to use Cloudrail as a sanity-check. I'm a DevOps engineer, so I'm often writing terraform templates, but I don't necessarily come from a security background, so having a "second set of eyes" helps a ton. The VS Code extension is another tool developers can use to shift security further to the left. It's easier to fix an issue when writing the code than it is to get a 2AM slack message from the security team asking why you accidentally exposed a port. I'm a Developer Advocate at Cloudrail, so I'm here to make your experience the best it can be. If you've got any questions, suggestions, comments, etc. feel free to let me know!
