Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Michael, an independent developer and software engineer based in Canada, and I'm excited to introduce Inbox Job Tracker.
Why I built it
While navigating my own job search, I noticed how difficult it was to keep track of applications and recruiting emails.
As applications piled up, I found myself constantly checking my inbox, trying to remember which companies had responded, which applications were still pending, and how long I'd been waiting.
I realized I didn't need another spreadsheet. I needed something that could organize this information automatically.
So I built Inbox Job Tracker.
What it does
📬 Automatically identifies recruiting emails and organizes them by job application.
📋 Tracks acknowledgments, interviews, rejections, and other application updates in one place.
⏳ Helps you see how long you've been waiting for a response.
❤️ Offers gentle encouragement during long periods of silence or after a rejection.
A little about the engineering
I designed the app with a local-first approach, using on-device processing and rules to handle straightforward cases, with AI assistance for more ambiguous emails.
For the latest encouragement feature, I deliberately avoided additional AI calls. The messages are selected locally and appear quietly in the application timeline.
My goal was to build something useful without adding unnecessary complexity.
What I'd love your feedback on
This is an early-stage product, and I'm still learning what matters most to job seekers.
I'd especially love to know:
What's the most frustrating part of tracking your job applications?
Would you trust an app to organize your recruiting emails automatically?
What feature would make a job tracker genuinely useful to you?
Thanks for checking out Inbox Job Tracker! Your feedback would mean a lot as I continue improving it. 🙏
