Hey y'all 👋 I want to show you something and would love to hear your thoughts. Over the course of the last 2.5 years I learned how to code on the internet, dropped out of college and later worked full time on this idea I had. I have seen the internet do the most amazing things, plant millions of trees, clean beaches or build a completely new decentralized financial system. Just with the power and genius of the internet. Social networks are so important in the lives of billions, yet we only have poor options to choose from. I thought, if we would just get together as an internet community, set rules and take measures to keep it civilized, we could build an alternative and change things. So I build a first construct and got help from a good friend to show what is possible. The network is open source, based on communities, and is designed for communication with strangers, not primarily for keeping in touch with friends. These communities can be expanded and individualized as needed and we have some nice little features, for example sharing music more easily through Songwhip. Social networks have several negative sides though: Self-promotion leads to misconceptions among users, sharing misinformation and populist statements, in connection with echo chambers leads to, well, 2020 and radicalized thinking. So we put a lot of thought into this and have already implemented first measures: - Simple algorithms against echo chambers. - Reporting and highlighting of hate and misinformation. - Topics can be discussed in a pro/contra construct. - Even the mood can be influenced with clear rules, positive interactions and responsibility We believe that you can really change something if you are profit-oriented and use it for something good. Seek profits to invest it in selected social projects and initiate your own. Don’t fund a glamorous lifestyle for the founders or investors. There is still a lot to do and it will take a bit, but the effort is worth it. 4 month ago, there was not even an Android App available. Imagine how far we could get in the next 4 month.
