👋 Hi, my name is Danilo. I'm quitting my job in Venture Capital in Italy to double down on indie making. Don't get me wrong I ❤️ the startup world, but on one hand the ecosystem I was living was not yet up to the standards of the big (although there has been a lot of growth in recent years), while on the other hand the newest trends in tech continue to make software increasingly cheap, accessible and and fast to build. In my view the VCs (or at least the non-top tier ones) are gradually losing the grip on their former central role for business and the mismatch between the knowledge of self-styled tech industry insiders and that of pure financial investors only widens this gap even more. And although the change will be slow I have a feeling that it is already underway and meanwhile the space for indie makers is opening up more and more. So I decided to get ahead of the curve a little bit. All of the above, and much more, encouraged me putting aside for the moment my financial education and business-side knowledge and starting a path to produce Micro-SaaS at an insane pace to create the conditions to be in the right spot when the next wave of next-generation tech hits us. Do the world really need an app to remind the birthdate? I don't think so, I know. But I don't pretend to change the world or make a unicorn over this project. This was just a good exercise to build in public here, practice and show what you can do today with some basic knowledge and zero budget, getting ready for what will come next 🚀

congrats on the launch, danilo. diving into indie making is quite the shift. with ikyb focusing on birthday reminders, are there any plans to integrate gift recommendations or direct gifting options in future updates? could add a nice touch to the already handy service.
