Hand unfinished work to Claude Code or Codex while you’re away. It creates a dedicated branch, finishes pending tasks, researches improvements, runs tests, and leaves a review report. Set a time limit and review the changes when you return.

Hey Product Hunt! 😴
You’re halfway through a feature. Your coding agent has the context, the tools, and the next steps.
But you need to sleep.
I built i-want-to-sleep to turn that moment into a structured handover.
It’s a plugin for Claude Code and Codex that gives your coding agent a time-bounded night shift:
1. Capture the requirements, unfinished work, and approaches you’ve rejected.
2. Create a dedicated night-shift branch.
3. Finish pending work before considering anything extra.
4. Research relevant improvements and score them before implementation.
5. Build, run unit tests, and keep changes in separate commits.
6. Leave a report covering changes, test results, blockers, and decisions for you.
The continuation mechanism is a Stop hook: when the agent tries to finish a turn, the hook checks whether it should continue or wrap up.
You can request a short handover, wrap-up only, or a focus such as testing or performance. It can finish early when there are no worthwhile candidates left.
After installation and hook setup:
Claude Code:
/i-want-to-sleep:sleep 8
Codex:
“I’m going to sleep. Take over for 8 hours.”
You come back to a branch and a report to review. It does not automatically merge into your main branch.
A few practical limits: your machine and agent session must remain running, normal model usage costs apply, and the guards are not a security sandbox. Codex support is newer and needs more field testing.

What would you hand over first: unfinished features, bug fixes, or test coverage?
