I built 'I Gave Up' (pun intended) because I was tired of paying per-seat AI tool subscriptions for something that should just... work in the background.
I Gave Up records your screen, transcribes it, and gives you an AI summary automatically.
The twist: it runs on your own API key. No middleman markup, no monthly lock-in. You pay cents directly to the provider, not a premium to us.
If you already have an API key sitting around, I Gave Up costs you basically nothing to run.
Is BYOK a dealmaker for you when picking AI tools, or does it feel like too much setup?

Didn’t expect this to become part of my daily workflow this fast tbh.
I’ve got terrible attention span when it comes to long learning vids. Whenever a course starts explaining basic/trivial stuff slowly, my brain just goes somewhere else. Then suddenly the important/advanced concept drops and I realize I missed it cuz I was mentally afk for the last 5 mins.
Problem is most good tutorials mix beginner & expert stuff together for context, so u cant just skip aggressively without losing continuity. Rewatching, making notes, scrubbing timelines etc takes way too much effort esp if ur lazy like me.
That’s exactly why I started using I Gave Up. Was kinda sus abt it initially ngl, but gave it a shot.
What surprised me most is it understands screen context, not just audio. Huge diff for coding tutorials, demos, lectures, tech walkthroughs etc where visuals matter as much as narration.
This feels less like another AI gimmick and more like an actual utility I’d keep using long term.
Also tysm for the BYOK model instead of forcing some overpriced subscription. I’d rather control my own API costs than pay another monthly AI tax.

BYOK is honestly the dealmaker for me! We have a handful of people on the team holding their seat on our AI notetaker tool each, and it always felt like money down the drain when not everyone actively went on calls. Being able to spin up one key and share it across the whole team is smart. Took a few minutes to set up. Thanks for building this!

Thanks for building this, such an insightful solution that was just lying there. I am giving up on other transcribers and summarisers now xD
