I am Hao, the founder and editor behind How I Make Money Writing.
I started this publication because the publishing and media industries rarely talk about money with any real transparency. Most writers enter the market having no idea what book advances look like after agent commissions and taxes, what freelance pieces pay, or how many award-winning authors still rely on day jobs to pay the bills.
Three times a week, I sit down with working novelists, journalists, poets, and screenwriters to break down their real numbers, income streams, and how they make a living in this business.
