Hi Product Hunt! ๐
I'm incredibly excited to launch HoverPeek today.
Like many of you, I constantly found myself drowning in a sea of browser tabsโopening links just to quickly read a paragraph, check a translation or look up a definition, only to lose track of what I was originally doing. It was a massive hit to my focus and productivity.
Thatโs why I built HoverPeek.
It lets you preview any link instantly in a floating mini-browser just by holding a key and hovering. But it goes way beyond just previewing:
โ๏ธ Split Screen & Sync Scroll: Compare two pages side-by-side. Scroll one and the other perfectly follows! (A lifesaver for developers, translators and researchers).
๐ Reader Mode: Instantly strip away ads and popups for a distraction-free reading experience without leaving your current page.
๐ Pinning & Resizing: Pin your favorite windows, resize them and build your own custom dashboard on top of any website.
๐ Full-Size Media Zoom: Hover over images or videos to instantly view them in high-quality full size.
โ๏ธ Fully Customizable: Switch between Dark/Light themes and choose your own trigger keys (Alt, Ctrl or Shift) to match your workflow perfectly.
I built this tool to scratch my own itch and it has completely transformed how I browse the web. Iโd love for you to experience it too!
The core features are completely free forever and you can test all the premium features with our 7-Day Free Trial.
I'll be here all day answering your questions. I'm especially curious to hear what you guys think about the Sync Scroll feature! Let me know your thoughts and feedback.

Does it work on sites that block iframing like Google Docs or Notion, or does it fall back to opening a new tab in those cases?

HoverPeek successfully bypasses iframe restrictions on most standard websites but the behavior varies on highly complex platforms:
Notion: Because Notion functions more like a native app than a standard website, you must first open a document from your library normally. Once opened, you can hover over it with your shortcut key to see the preview. You can use the same method for any other document you wish to preview.
Google Docs: Previews are currently not possible on the Google Docs homepage (it will fall back to normal browser behavior). The technical reason for this is that Google Docs completely hides standard web links (<a> tags) within its interface.
I have added both of these cases to my developer notes and will actively try to provide seamless solutions in future updates!
