Holdem is a lightweight, open-source tool for effortlessly dragging and organizing files on your desktop. Inspired by Dropover and built with Tauri, Holdem lets you collect and drop files in a temporary holding area — no clutter, no hassle. check out the demo at website

How does this compare to Dropover in terms of features, and is it completely free since it's open source?
@elifzbeyliswne This is inspired by dropover, I built it for windows ( dropover is mac only )
it's lacking a lot of features ( mostly extra quality of life ones, link to share, multiple boxes, etc ) I'm planning on adding those as well.
And yes it's free.
Curious how this plays with cloud storage like Dropbox or Google Drive, does it integrate with those or stay strictly local?
@raziyeysr8 Currently it's local only, am looking into those after I'm done with some other basic features ( multiple shelves, history etc. )
Smooth experience right out of the gate. I tossed a mix of images and PDFs into the holding area and rearranged them without a hitch, love how lightweight it feels compared to other tools I've tried.
@eypqkxk Glad you loved it.
Finally a Dropover alternative that doesn't feel bloated, the Tauri build makes it snappy and barely touches resources. Wish I'd found this sooner for quick file shuffling between windows.
The choice to build this with Tauri is a nice touch, keeps it lightweight without the bloat of Electron. That floating holding area feels really polished, looking forward to trying it out.
