My background is as a CTO, and Hodman grew out of conversations with non-programmer friends who kept running into the same problems. Those who tried local-first AI coding tools could build impressive things, but then got stuck publishing them, setting up infrastructure and making the result usable with coworkers. SaaS builders offered an easier start, but the models could feel less capable than local agents, integrations meant stitching together several services, and the final cost became difficult to understand. I wanted to combine the best parts of both approaches. Start from zero or bring an existing codebase through ZIP or Git. Work across multiple repositories, preview, publish, fix issues and keep improving the product in production with your colleagues. Your team keeps ownership of the code and runtime. Advanced plans support on-premises deployments. I’ve already introduced Hodman in teams I work with and shown it to several non-programmer friends. The feedback has been very positive—but feedback from people close to you is not the same as finding a market.
