HN Listen turns the top Hacker News stories into short audio. Two AI voices talk through the best of the comments — the corrections, the expert takes, the arguments. Catch up hands-free on your commute.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I read Hacker News every day, but mostly for the comments — the correction three replies deep, the person who actually built the thing, the argument that reframes the whole story. Problem is, I never have my eyes free to read it all: driving, doing dishes, walking somewhere.
So I built HN Listen. It turns the day's top HN stories into short audio, but the focus isn't the article — it's the comments. Two AI voices talk through the thread, and because one only "read" the article and the other only "read" the comments, they actually disagree instead of politely nodding along. You come away knowing what HN really made of a story.
The hardest part by far was getting it to not sound like an essay read aloud. I wrote about that here: https://hnlisten.app/blog/i-told...
iOS is live, Android's in open beta. I'd genuinely love your honest feedback — especially whether the audio sounds listenable or robotic. Thanks for checking it out 🙏

How fresh are the audio summaries, and do you cover every top story daily or only a curated batch?

Curious about the episode length and whether the two voices stick around for the whole discussion or switch out depending on the topic. Also wondering how you decide which comments make the cut when threads spiral into hundreds of replies.

Two voices really makes this feel like catching up with a friend rather than another text-to-speech feed. Curious how you handle the back-and-forth pacing on the more technical threads.

The back-and-forth between the two voices actually works, way more natural than I expected. Listening to the comment section while doing dishes felt oddly efficient.
