Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I had built the first version of hipCV 8 years ago. It kept running on auto-pilot, providing value to the people, even though it didn't receive the love it deserved. 😞
It had started to look dated and wasn't something I would use myself.
I had a choice, either to let it rot or bring it back to life.
Well, long story short, I decided to give it another go and get it to a level where I would be happy to use it myself.
So after many many nights and weekends of hacking, I give to you the new and shiny hipCV. 🙏
Highlights:
🌟 20 resume templates: carefully designed, with emphasis on readability, templates that you would actually want to use
🚅 Super easy to try: no credit card needed to give it a go
⚡ Phrase suggestions: not sure what to write? It has pre-written phrases that will help you get a head start
📊 Analytics: not sure if the hiring manager has seen your resume? Share a link of your web resume and it will track visits
🌐 Download a print-friendly PDF or share the link of your resume
📷 Profile images: for jobs/countries where they are required
💅 Customize templates: change colors
Give it a go and let me know what you think! I would love to hear your feedback. 🙏
@websymphony Well done, really hard to bring a project up to modern standards after so long, this looks great. I was a CV advisor at my university when studying for my PhD and having seen hundreds and worked with students to improve them I can say layout and white space is the number one thing that improves a CV initially and you have solved this really well
Link sharing is amazing that helps in all the analytics. But most of the companies prefer PDF/word format. Have you thought about tracking the PDF/word? I know this is tough to crack, but tracking the PDF would be a game changer.
@lakshmantgld Hey Lakshman, I have not. Just assumed it was unsolvable, need to give it more thought. It might actually be doable with some hackery.
Report
HipCV is a super quick way to build a resumé that looks great and clearly highlights all important info to the employer.
I have previously struggled with terrible Word templates when putting together resumés, no more of that now!
Well done amit! 👌😁
I think the most important is matching your skills to the position and formulating your achievements at work. Template is useful but it’s still on candidate to come up with the copy
@lisadziuba Thanks for checking it out Lisa. It has two options to help out with the copy, use pre-written phrases or start from an existing example.
I do need to add lot more examples for different positions and experience levels to be even more useful for folks with different backgrounds. 🙏
Resumes are indeed very important and can make or break an application in just seconds of viewing. I like that there are pre-built templates to refer to here.
Awesome idea and product! also gives you an overview who has actually looked at your cv instead of sending them everywhere and then not knowing if they're even being opened and read!
