Hilo is a daily word puzzle that blends vocabulary with alphabetical reasoning. Each day, everyone gets the same 7-letter word to crack, using higher/lower clues to narrow down each letter. Unlike most word games, Hilo isn't about knowing obscure words. It's about logic and deduction, watching the letter ranges shrink with every guess until the answer clicks into place.
Hey everyone! I built Hilo as a small side project because I’ve always liked word games, but I wanted something that felt a bit more like a logic puzzle than pure vocabulary.
Instead of guessing letters, each guess tells you if every letter should be higher or lower in the alphabet, so with each attempt you narrow down the letters interval until you guess the word.
It’s one puzzle per day, same for everyone. No accounts, no ads, just something simple you can play in a couple of minutes.
Still very early, so I’d love feedback, especially if anything feels confusing or too easy/hard.

Modular game engine: if the games share a common framework, you could easily add new cognitive exercises without rebuilding everything from scratch
Progress tracking layer: even a simple, privacy-first memory/streak tracker could help families see gentle long-term improvements or engagement patterns
Caregiver collaboration: adding a shared mode where family members can suggest games or track sessions together could make this more impactful in real care routines
Accessibility expansion: larger UI modes, voice guidance, and simplified navigation could make it usable for a wider range of cognitive conditions
Open collaboration potential: if you ever open parts of the project (templates, game logic, or APIs), other developers or caregivers could contribute new exercises
What you’ve built already has something most products miss - emotional intent behind the UX. That’s a strong foundation to grow from.
