Hi There started in a library. There was a chess board, a few people around, and I was too shy to ask anyone for a game, with no idea who was free. Later a guy at a shop saw my badminton bag and asked if I play. He'd never joined any community, because everyone's busy working.

Asking people one by one is awkward, and posting in big Facebook groups pings everyone who doesn't care. So I built Hi There:

Post a plan (badminton Thursday, chess in the library, a walk) and people nearby who like the same thing get told and can join with one tap
