Helira tracks fuel prices across 5,400+ stations in NSW, ACT, QLD and WA. Compare 77 EV models, find chargers, calculate solar payback — all with AI recommendations. Free for every driver. See what your car actually costs.
Hey everyone — I'm Fazley, solo founder behind Helira. I built this because I got tired of overpaying for fuel and couldn't find a single tool that answered the obvious question: "What does my car actually cost me?"
Australia has 5,400+ petrol stations across four states, and the price difference between the cheapest and most expensive station in the same suburb can be 40-60 cents per litre. That's $600-$900 a year for the average driver — just by filling up at the wrong servo. Meanwhile, if you're thinking about switching to an EV, good luck comparing 77 models across purchase price, charging costs, registration savings and solar offsets without a spreadsheet and three hours.
Helira pulls real-time fuel prices from government APIs (NSW FuelCheck, QLD Open Data, WA FuelWatch), maps every EV charger via Open Charge Map, and runs the numbers on 77 EV models from 18 manufacturers. The AI layer (Claude Haiku) gives you personalised recommendations — not generic advice, but answers based on your actual location, driving patterns and energy setup. There's also a solar payback calculator, price drop alerts, and a weekly fuel summary email.
The whole thing runs on Next.js, Supabase, Mapbox and the Anthropic API. Total monthly infrastructure cost is under $5. No ads, no data selling, no dark patterns. Free tier covers most drivers. Paid tiers ($4.99-$19.99/mo) unlock unlimited AI features and alerts.
