When Heimdall first launched, it was an “OpenAI GPT” that users accessed through ChatGPT. We chose this approach for its $0 inference cost, user familiarity, and the perceived ease + speed of development. However, in hindsight, this proved to be a mistake, plagued by issues like constant end-user approval prompts, a cumbersome OAuth experience (especially on mobile), unreliable desktop link generation, and an overall poor user experience. As a result, we completely rebuilt Heimdall as version 2.0 using Vercel’s AI SDK and GPT-4o-mini, and it’s much improved. You no longer need a ChatGPT account to get started, there’s no more dealing with repeated confirmation prompts, broken links, or mobile sign-in issues. The integration with the Gandalf SDK, which powers data retrieval from services like Amazon and Instacart, is now even smoother. Heimdall 2.0 can answer questions like: • How much have I spent on a specific service or category? • What categories of products do I buy the most on Amazon or Instacart? • How does my spending compare this year to last year? • How often do I use services like Uber or Booking? • Can you show me a pie chart or bar chart of my spending in different categories? • How do my spending habits differ between services? • Can you provide insights or recommendations based on my spending data? This is a really interesting update! The new Heimdall sounds super useful for tracking spending without all the previous hassle. I like how it now integrates better with services like Amazon and Instacart. A question tho, does it support different currencies? Would be handy for international users. Minimal Data Collection: Gandalf only collects the essential information required for service provision, such as names and email addresses. No additional personally identifiable information (PII) is collected unless explicitly allowed by the end user. 2. User Consent and Control: Gandalf ensures that users have full control over their data. Users must provide explicit consent before any data is collected, and they have the ability to manage or delete their data at any time through the Gandalf standalone application. 3. Data Security: Gandalf employs industry-standard encryption to protect data both during transmission and storage. Sensitive credentials like passwords are never transmitted or stored; all authentication processes are handled on the client side. 4.
