Tired of boring progress-bar-watching habit apps? Hard Reset uses popular mechanics from the best roguelike games, a compelling cyberpunk resistance fighter + world saving narrative, and integrates the player's real-world checklist to power it all. Miss a due task? Have a junk card added to your deck. Get a long streak going? Use the Momentum currency from that to fuel powerful cards. As much as possible, the checklist and the game are completely integrated.
Wow, what an incredible question I set up to ask myself!
...a few things come to mind though:
1. The integration between the checklist and the game makes task completion actually meaningful. Unlike others who give pointless avatar rewards for watching a progress bar, this game gives useful gear and creds to actually help with the game.
2. It's about killing fascists. In today's day and age, there's a pretty strong anti-fascist/oligarch sentiment and I'm all about that. I've converted real-life fascists into caricature enemies.
3. It's actually fun. I've woven together mechanics from all the best games to create the most potent sort of fun to achieve the highest motivation to do tasks.
