Hi Product Hunt
We built Grimnir because we started asking a simple question: why does a password manager need to become another cloud service?
Grimnir is a standalone password manager. You install it on your computer, create one master password, and your encrypted vault stays on your own disk.
There is no Grimnir account to create and no cloud vault for us to host. We don't know where you store your data, and we don't need to.
Grimnir includes password management, secure notes, TOTP codes, import and export, and backup and restore.
This is also part of a wider idea we're exploring at Social Climate Tech: software doesn't always need a permanent cloud behind it. Your computer already has compute and storage. When appropriate, we think software should use them.
Grimnir is our small contribution to that idea.
I'd genuinely like to hear what you think — especially about local-first software and whether we've become too dependent on the cloud.

Local-only storage is great, but I'd love a simple way to sync the encrypted vault between devices without forcing a cloud account, maybe through a configurable folder path that pairs with my own cloud service. Would make this much more practical for anyone with a phone.

Love that it runs completely offline with no account needed, finally a password manager that respects the whole point of security. The TOTP integration right inside the vault is a nice touch.
