As the founder & CEO of GRID, and I’m thrilled to introduce the GRID Spreadsheet API!
At GRID, we believe spreadsheets are in many ways the world’s most successful low-code platform - but they’ve been stuck in files and silos for too long. We built the GRID Spreadsheet API so you can turn your spreadsheets into fast, scalable RESTful APIs, unlocking trusted business calculations for AI applications, software, and workflow automation.
Use what you already have: No need to rewrite business logic from Excel or Google Sheets into code.
Reliable & verifiable calculations: AI tools struggle with math, but spreadsheets don’t.
Natural language references: GRID analyzes spreadsheet labels and context, enabling calculations driven by natural language instead of Excel-style cell references.
We’re excited to see what you’ll build! Check it out, and let us know what you think. I’ll be here all day answering questions! 💬

Hey Product Hunt community! 👋🏻 I'm Marín, Product Manager at GRID.
I've always loved spreadsheets—they're powerful, flexible, and help business users get shit done. Their accessibility means a huge amount of critical business logic and calculations live in spreadsheets today—built and managed by millions worldwide.
A quick backstory: GRID is a spreadsheet technology company founded in 2018. For nearly 7 years, we’ve been building what’s now the most sophisticated spreadsheet engine outside Microsoft and Google. Today is a big day for us because we’re officially launching our spreadsheet API!
Why? We wanted to make it possible for our users to make use of what they’ve already built — in Excel or Google Sheets — and use the logic elsewhere. With our spreadsheet engine running behind the scenes, our spreadsheet API is a huge enabler for projects that need fast, reliable calculations.
How? Simply go to grid.is, add your spreadsheet and we’ll turn it to a RESTful API in seconds - ready to be queried. We have code examples, SDKs, a sandbox and all kinds of good stuff to help you get off to a great start.
Early customers are already integrating their complex spreadsheet models into AI agents and automated workflows. Your feedback today could hugely impact our product development moving forward, and I'd absolutely love to hear your thoughts 🙏✨ Try it out today for free! 🚀

Excited to finally share our spreadsheet API! AI is moving fast, and at GRID, we've made it possible to talk to your spreadsheets - you can now ask for calculations and forecasts in plain text!
Curious to try it out? Head over to grid.is and try out our chat demo - I’d love to hear your thoughts, we’re constantly evolving the way people talk to their spreadsheets!

As a member of the founding team I’m incredibly proud to introduce a seemingly simple yet groundbreaking solution to one of AI’s biggest challenges—its tendency to hallucinate when performing calculations.
Large language models (LLMs) have impressed us with their ability to generate text, answer questions, and even write code. But the moment you ask them to crunch numbers, things start to fall apart. We’ve seen bizarre miscalculations, unreliable outputs, and an overall lack of trust when it comes to AI handling math. And let’s face it—if we can’t trust an AI to get the numbers right, how can we use it to make data-driven decisions?
That’s exactly the problem we set out to solve. After relentless development, we’ve built a state-of-the-art spreadsheet engine that doesn’t just push the boundaries—it redefines them. With our Spreadsheet-as-a-Service API, you can now seamlessly integrate the power of spreadsheets into your software, unlocking a whole new level of precision and accessibility.
What does this mean in practice?
You can interrogate your spreadsheet using natural language, leveraging LLMs without worrying about incorrect calculations.
You can use the GRID Spreadsheet API as the backbone for your app’s calculations, reducing development time and eliminating the headache of maintaining custom logic.
Most importantly, maintenance is no longer the burden of developers alone—domain experts and business users can now take the wheel, ensuring calculations stay accurate and up to date without a single line of code.
This is more than just another API. It’s a shift in how we think about AI, numbers, and trust. And I can’t wait to see how you use it.

I am very excited about launching our API on Product Hunt today!
Up to now you could only interact with our spreadsheet engine through our own web interface builder (Calculator Studio). But now, through our API anybody can access it and put it to work to power a much wider variety of use cases: pricing engines, financial models, workflows and AI projects. Imagine an AI assistant with access to a spreadsheet based pricing engine, no more hallucinations, just accurate calculation results.
Our bet is that spreadsheets are here to stay. They are by far the best medium for business users like me to express business logic and build flows around it. Why spend valuable resources rewriting all that logic in code? Simply connect your existing Excel or Google Sheets models to our engine and run all your calculations and logic from there as an end point.
We can’t wait to see what you build with this. What use cases are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments!
As someone with experience in the web industry, I've often been tasked with implementing models from spreadsheets. I'm really excited about this and looking forward to making life easier for developers.
Looking forward to hear what you guys think.
@atli_pall_hafsteinsson I'd be so surprised if there aren't thousands or hundreds of thousands of developers out there who have had similar experiences!

As someone who likes to rapidly prototype ideas, this is game changing. Spreadsheets can be used as a backend which lowers the barrier for anyone else to work with me and shortens time to value.
