Social Music Discovery

Grey Matter is a social music app with cross-platform streaming integrations and expressive ways to share and discover music. Imagine if Instagram + Sonos had a kid and Reddit + Patreon had a kid and then those two kids had a kid. That's us.

Hey PH! Chiming in now that we're a week into our soft launch onto the app stores. I'm Keagon, musician/music journalist + co-founder of Grey Matter alongside Arthur. Sharing some of the why behind Grey Matter... The emotional connection that happens around music needs human beings. But we live in an era where the convenience of tech shouts louder than our friends. Algorithms and the absence of social tools make people nonessential to today’s streaming experience, which endangers the community that music both needs and creates. And while there is no substitute for real-life connection, there should be a digital solution that better supports it. COVID has only amplified these issues. And in the absence of live events, when digital spaces are all we have, music needs people and community more than ever. A lens into what you can do with the app today: - Share & listen to tracks from Spotify. - Pair music with creative visual expressions comprised of GIFs, colors, hashtags, captions, and more. - Share, discover, and express music by following friends, artists, and communities — not algorithms. - Apple Music integration, full playback, and user search are in progress and coming soon. We'd value thoughts and feedback as we continue to build the app and our community. Hope to share, discover, and support music alongside you soon!

NOVEMBER UPDATE: Grey Matter is now live! Download directly from the app store links above, and learn more about what we're building at https://greymatter.fm/. We have a dedicated in-app feedback tool for users to submit suggestions and bugs, and we'd love to hear any feedback in the comments as well.
