I build GRAZE: Edge Rush, a small one thumb arcade game, solo. It has a daily mode where everyone on earth plays the exact same course, and the leaderboard resets every midnight.
The daily board was fun, but it was also disposable. You could top it, feel great for a day, and then it wiped and none of it was remembered. So I added a Daily Wins counter. Finish a day ranked number 1 and your win total ticks up and sticks around forever.
the close shave scoring actually makes it kind of addictive, kept telling myself one more run
@edanur1032624 you start to memorize the daily board too so you’re like okay I KNOW I can do better next run just need to go below that obstacle instead of above….
Love the no ads, no IAP approach, really refreshing for a mobile game. One thing that would get me playing way more: a ghost replay of the day's top score so you can see exactly where the winner cut closest to the obstacles. Would make chasing that Daily Wins spot way more addictive.
@cananyunuset3t I absolutely love this idea. I’m going to start figuring out how to implement it!
