Hi everyone 👋 I'm Ruslan, founder of GrainPosition, based in Winnipeg.
Grain farmers on the Canadian prairies sell their crop through contracts with elevators and buyers. A farm can have a dozen of these open at once, each with its own tonnes, price, delivery window and deductions taken off at the scale. Most farms track all of that in a spreadsheet, a notebook or their head. Mistakes on settlements are easy to miss and cost real money.
GrainPosition started as a book for those contracts and has grown into farm management for grain farms:
🌾 Fields: your quarters on a satellite map, crops, acres and yields
🚜 Field work: seeding, spraying, harvest and who did it
🏠 Bins: what's in each one and what's left to sell
📄 Contracts, loads and settlements: what's left to deliver, and deductions that don't add up
💰 Margin: cost, revenue and profit on each field
🛰️ Try it with no sign-up: pick any quarter section on the prairies and watch it from space, season by season → grainposition.com/field-from-space
There's also bin weather for drying grain, prices by province and an acre counter that uses the phone's GPS while you drive.
Feedback that would help most:
1. The first minute. Open the site cold. Is it clear what it does and who it's for, or did you have to guess?
2. Signing up. Where did you hesitate or get stuck before your first contract or field was in?
3. Trust. It's farm money data. What would make you comfortable putting your numbers in, and what would put you off?
4. If you farm, or know someone who does: how do you track contracts today? Even "a spreadsheet and that's fine" helps.
Thanks for looking! 🙏
