how do you actually source the tuition and visa data for 1000+ programs, and how often is it refreshed?
@fikretseymenler Really good question. We get each program's info from the official school site (.edu). No aggregators, no "trust me bro" data. If tuition or funding details are not on that site, we leave those details blank. We then validate and dedupe the data before database insertion.
Our aim is to do a sweep at least every 3 months. Gradschool data is not the most volatile.
@fikretseymenler Thank you for this question it touches a vital part of what we’ve built! We hope our response clearly answers your question.
How does it actually pull program data, do you update it manually or scrape the school sites on a schedule? Curious how fresh the tuition and CPT info stays.
@selukb7qw we have an ensemble of agents that scrape, validate, and dedupe independently. Manual validation is also a part of the quarterly data update process.
How do you actually verify the CPT and STEM OPT data for programs, since that info seems to change pretty often and can be a dealbreaker for international students?
@krakl9tl6 that is a good question and a common concern. We've both been international students in the US — through school and the OPT/STEM-OPT gauntlet after. We are very aware of the struggle. CPT/STEM-OPT isn't just a nice-to-have field, it's a make-or-break for internationals. And with immigration rules shifting constantly under the current administration, we treat this data as living.
We verify against official university sources, re-check on a quarterly basis, and cross-reference the government sources that actually govern this (SEVP and ICE).
Unofficially, we also lean on immigration attorneys and DSOs (Designated School Officials) to sanity-check the tricky cases. When in doubt, we'd rather flag uncertainty than let you plan your future on a stale checkbox.
How do you actually source the tuition and CPT/OPT data for all 1000+ programs, and how often is it refreshed?
@orhanmentet8qe, the tuition and CPT/OPT data is also extracted from official school websites (strictly .edu sites). The data refresh plan will be quarterly for now.
The CPT and STEM OPT filters are surprisingly specific, actually pulled up programs I hadn't found on bigger sites. Nice that the visa info is built right in instead of buried in PDFs.
@remzidarbadyy9 thank you for the honest review. That is our aim
@remzidarbadyy9 Thank you for your feedback on this! We’re glad to show as much information as possible buried in PDFs to help as many applicants as we can!
