Goose Book is an AI-native workspace built for long-form writing instead of simple chat generation. It combines chapter management, outlining, character building, editing workflows, and publishing tools in one place. Unlike most AI writing apps, it is open-source, self-hostable, and designed for collaborative workflows between humans and AI agents.

Goose Book started from a frustration I kept running into while vibe coding with AI tools.
Generating text was easy. But turning scattered drafts, outlines, character notes, prompts, and edits into an actual long-form book project quickly became chaotic. After a few weeks, the workspace usually collapsed into messy folders, inconsistent writing styles, broken structure, and AI repeatedly rewriting stable content.
I realized most AI writing tools focused on “generate faster,” but very few focused on helping humans and agents collaborate on a book across its full lifecycle.
So I began building Goose Book as an AI-native writing workspace instead of just another text generator.
The project evolved from a simple story generation app into a structured workspace with chapters, outlines, character management, reusable writing workflows, publishing pipelines, and agent collaboration. A big part of the process was figuring out how to reduce user friction while still giving creators control over the writing process.
Another important direction was openness. I wanted generated books, prompts, workflows, and even the project structure itself to be portable and hackable instead of locked into a closed platform.
Goose Book is now both a writing tool and an experiment in how humans and AI agents can co-create long-form creative work together.
