A super lightweight file sharing server that's only 20MB and packs a punch! Share files like a boss with password protection and nested folder support. No bloat, no nonsense - just pure file sharing goodness! and maintains privacy like crazy!

I needed a simple way to share files with friends and colleagues, but I was frustrated with the options. Commercial cloud services felt like overkill with privacy trade-offs, and existing self-hosted solutions like Nextcloud were too heavy and complex for my needs—I didn't want to manage a database just to share a folder. I wanted a lightweight server that I could set up in minutes on a small server, that used minimal resources, and that offered a truly private way to share folders without the hassle of user accounts. So, I built ShareServer to be the fast, simple, and private file-sharing tool I couldn't find anywhere else. If I would have not made this I could have not easily shared files from my server which gives me just 800mb ram and 1 vcpu Compared to Cloud Services (Dropbox, Google Drive): You get total privacy and control. It's self-hosted, so you own your data, there are no subscription fees, and no one is scanning your files. Compared to Heavy Self-Hosted Solutions (Nextcloud): ShareServer is radically lightweight. The entire application is a single ~20MB file that runs without a database or other complex dependencies. It uses a tiny amount of RAM, making it perfect for any small server. Its Unique Feature: The "secret code" access is the biggest differentiator. Instead of managing user accounts, you simply protect a folder with a code. If someone doesn't have the code, the folder is completely invisible to them. It's a simple but incredibly effective approach to privacy that no other major platform offers."
