Hi everyone! I built GigaJSON while working on an AI security project.
We had large JSON files with device and usage data from services like Jamf and Intune. Opening those files could get slow, and I kept switching between tools to find, edit and compare things. I started building GigaJSON for my own work, then put it online for others to use.
The main focus is large JSON files. You can explore them in tree and table views, edit values, search, run JSONPath, JMESPath or jq queries, and compare documents.
I also added 29 free tools for smaller tasks, including formatting, validation, conversion, token counting and JSON to TOON. There are Chrome and Firefox extensions for viewing JSON responses directly in your browser.
File contents are processed locally in your browser. It is free, and you do not need an account.
A quick note on size: tree and table views support JSON files up to 1 GB, depending on your device and available memory. The default limit is 512 MB; you can raise it in Preferences. Individual tools have smaller limits: jq is 20 MB, CSV/YAML input and JSON repair are 128 MB, and the token counter and TOON converter accept up to 2 MiB.
I’d love for you to try it with a file you normally struggle with. Please tell me what feels useful, confusing or missing. What’s your biggest frustration when working with JSON?
