Giftlyy lets you send a real gift without needing the recipient’s address. Choose a local merchant, personalize the gift, and send it instantly via phone or email. The recipient redeems it with a QR code whenever convenient.
When I started building Giftlyy, the problem was personal.
I studied in Algeria, and many of my closest friends did too. After graduation, we ended up scattered across Zimbabwe, Algeria, South Africa, Europe and elsewhere. We could message each other instantly, but sending an actual gift was surprisingly difficult.
Usually, you needed someone's physical address, had to find a courier, coordinate delivery, or eventually just send money. I kept thinking: why can't I simply choose something from a local shop and send it to my friend digitally?
That became Giftlyy.
The first version was much simpler than what we have today. I started by building the core gifting experience, then spoke to users and merchants and kept adapting the product around what actually made gifting difficult.
Today, you can choose a gift from a participating local merchant, personalize it, and send it using a phone number or email. The recipient gets the gift digitally and can redeem it with a QR code—without ever giving you their address.
We're starting in Zimbabwe and are now personally onboarding gift shops, restaurants and other local businesses. We've launched on iOS and Android, and our first merchants and paying users are already using the platform.
We're launching on Product Hunt because we'd love feedback from people who think deeply about products and marketplaces.
If you try Giftlyy, I'd genuinely love to hear what you think—especially what would make you more likely to send a gift through it. 🎁
