GC works inside and across all the apps you use at work to find comments that need your attention, magically create a “single source of truth” for each project you’re working on, and helps you easily keep up with your teammates to see what they’re working on.

What do you think? …

General Collaboration is the missing comment layer for SaaS apps. That is — rather than constantly bouncing between Figma, Notion, Google Cloud, Linear, Github, or Asana, GC is your unified inbox to read, reply, and triage all the discussions that are buried in each of those apps. And not only do you get to crank through your comments on time, but you can also eavesdrop on what your teammates are up to, so you can maintain a wider context of what's going on within your company. I had a great time supporting @elliottpoppel with this launch and recommend you give it a try to see how GC can improve communication and collaboration on your team.

We're so grateful to have you in our corner! Thanks so much for hunting us and for all your help and support leading up to today, @chrismessina
Danny Aziz
@elliottpoppel @chrismessina Thanks for supporting us Chris!
Asa Burroughs
@chrismessina Heckya, thank you for all the support!
Fabio Salvadori
Another great @chrismessina find. It works really well, and it's super useful. I would have specified that this is for Mac only, right now, but I'm lucky enough to have both Windows and Apple machines, so I can't complain. Still curious to know if you are planning to cater to Windows users too, in the near future. Just one suggestion about your beautiful homepage (it is indeed): on large screens you have aspect-ratio: 1.25261 / 1; on the .framer-i9cf87 element pushing down the hero to the extent of making it invisible until one scrolls down. Lots of makers and potential clients are on wide and extra wide screens these days, so you might want to consider showing your hero at loading ;) Supported.

@fabiosalvadori Isn't @chrismessina the best! So grateful to have him as our Hunter!
Elliott Poppel
@fabiosalvadori - And yes, GC for Windows as well as GC for iOS and Android are both on the roadmap and coming soon.
Danny Aziz
@chrismessina @fabiosalvadori Windows is something we plan to support in the near future for sure! Thanks for the landing page feedback, will fix that now!
Elliott Poppel
@asaburroughs - @fabiosalvadori here shared some feedback re: our homepage and gave great advice as how we might make it better? Think we can get this implemented today?!
Asa Burroughs
@fabiosalvadori This is why I love this community! I believe the issue should be fixed.

Congrats on the launch. Might this be the tool to manage our challenges keeping up with all the comments? Hope it is.
Elliott Poppel
@haribelafonte07 - It 100% is! We've been beta testing for some time now and our early adopters have been finding the spend 80% LESS TIME MANAGING THEIR COMMENT! You'll have to try us our for yourself and let me know what you think, Harald!
Danny Aziz
@haribelafonte07 Give it a try Harald! Love to hear your thoughts
Asa Burroughs
@haribelafonte07 it really has been for me! Would love to hear about your experience trying it out

Hey Product Hunt! Danny here. I'm a maker at heart, constantly seeking elegant solutions to challenging problems. General Collaboration (we call it GC for short) is our answer to a challenge that's plagued teams for years. While I love dedicated tools like Figma for design and GDrive for document creation and file sharing, let's face it – their comment systems are often an afterthought. GC steps in where these giants step back, offering a dedicated home for the conversations that drive projects forward. Since bringing GC into my daily workflow, Email alerts? Muted. Push notifications? A thing of the past. Now, there's just one place to check for updates, and it's been a game-changer for my focus and productivity. Want to nerd out about how we built GC and how it's reshaping collaborating across all these platforms? Shoot me a question, I'm all ears
Elliott Poppel
@dannyaziz97 - Can't imagine being where we are today without you, Danny! If anyone is wondering how we build and maintain our integrations be sure to comment here and ask Danny. He's got some great insights to share!
Asa Burroughs
@dannyaziz97 Engineer extraordinaire. Such a pleasure working with you
Chris Messina
@dannyaziz97 when will you integrate Product Hunt launches comments? The API hasn't been deprecated yet! :)
Danny Aziz
@chrismessina great idea!

👋 Hi Product Hunt! I'm Elliott - founder and CEO of General Collaboration (aka GC): http://www.gc.me GC was born out of the pandemic. While leading Meta's "Future of Work" efforts, I realized we'd entered an unintentional 'Renaissance of Apps'. Today, we have incredible tools at our fingertips, but our projects are now scattered across countless shared documents in dozens of siloed apps. That's why we're building GC. It's a meta-collaboration layer that works inside and across all the apps we use at work, excelling in three key areas:
  • 📬 A single, unified inbox: GC identifies docs that people are collaborating on and brings all related comments into one place.
  • 👀 Know what teammates are working on: You can easily follow your teammates' work across different platforms, spotting blockers and opportunities to collaborate.
  • 📂 See everything across your projects: GC knows which docs belong to which work steams, shows you where the most active and interesting discussions are happening, and shows you what’s out of date or need attention.
  • We want to help builders like us do our best individual work while also being highly collaborative and impactful teammates. We believe that we do our best work when we all have a seat at the collaborative table. If you agree, we hope you'll join the GC community and help us refine how teamwork is done! GC is totally free for individuals and we’ve already have some of the very best product managers, developers, designers, data scientists, marketers, and others from companies like. Apollo.io, Coursera, Bubble, Gusto, and Rho using us. GC currently works with all of the GSuite apps, Notion, Figma, Linear, Jira, Github, and Asana. We’re constantly adding more app support, but if there’s an integration you’re particulary eager for be sure to let us know (https://tally.so/r/mD7N2j). Try it out and let us know what you think!

@elliottpoppel this guy knows how to run a product ^^^ been so much fun
    Elliott Poppel
@asaburroughs Thanks, Asa! Right back at ya!
    Manu Hortet
Hey, congrats on the launch, this looks really useful! A quick question: can I also "follow" certain topics or keywords, apart from direct mentions?
    Elliott Poppel
@manu_hortet - Not yet, but that's a fantastic idea. Adding to the roadmap right now! Can you tell me a little more about what you have in mind? Or how in particular you'd use this?
    Manu Hortet
    💡 Bright idea
@elliottpoppel awesome, thanks for the reactiveness! I would like to follow discussions on topics that require my attention / that I want to be on top of. For example, "ProductHunt launch". Probably I'd prefer to see these separated from the direct mentions.
    Elliott Poppel
@manu_hortet - That's a really, really great idea. You're making me think of when I was a PM on a team that build infrastructure that was used by quite a few other teams. If I could have followed a few key words / phases and seen when other teams were talking about us that would have been a godsend. This is DEFINITELY making the roadmap! Thanks again, Manu!
    Danny Aziz
@manu_hortet Great idea Manu, @elliottpoppel we should ship this ASAP
    Asa Burroughs
Hey Product Hunt! I helped lead design for the latest iteration of GC. As a designer, this was a dream project: How often do you get to work on a tool that you actually use? And when I say use, I mean multiple times a day, an instant switch from “this problem frustrates me” to “I cannot do my work as effectively without it.” Here’s the story: Last spring I got a message from Elliott. He had seen my LinkedIn, thought I might find value in the tool he was building, and asked if I would beta test. I downloaded GC and immediately everything changed. I run a small studio with two other designers in SF; every morning I see comments come in from Linear, Notion, Google Drive, and Figma… So many Figma comments. With GC I have a tidy home to triage all of the conversations. In the first few days I noticed that I replied quicker, unblocked my team more effectively, and felt a significant reduction in stress about the state of our projects. But there were things I wanted to be tweaked or changed to make it even better. So I started a google doc and proceeded to give Elliott a weekly write-up with ideas for how GC could be more effectively tuned for the problems I faced. After a few weeks, Elliott reached out to ask if we had availability to work alongside his team on the tool. We spent the summer building and launching GC as a Mac App. The latest edition is faster, more powerful, and exactly the kind of daily driver I need to keep my projects rolling along. I am not joking when I say my life would be worse without this app. In the coming iterations we’ll be taking the application further. We see GC as the connecting thread between all of the tools we use, it’s helpful today but has the potential to revolutionize how we work. Give it a try, reach out with any questions or ideas. I’ll be the one sitting down to read user feedback, I can’t wait to learn about your experience!
    Elliott Poppel
Obviously biased, but truly one of the coolest recruiting experiences I've ever heard! In the 2+ years we'd been building and beta testing we conducted well over 200+ user research sessions. So grateful that one of them was with you @asaburroughs and that you loved the product so much that you decided to join the team. And just think how much further we've come and how much better GC has gotten since you joined!
    Danny Aziz
@asaburroughs When your users love the product so much they want to work on it 🤝 Loved working with you these past few months Asa!
