The idea behind GenDrive started with a simple problem: a lot of personal devices already have unused storage, yet we still depend on paid cloud services. I wanted to see if those devices could work together to form a private cloud using storage that is already available. GenDrive lets you turn your own phones, laptops, and servers into one unified drive. Files are split and automatically stored on the device with the most available space, so everything stays within your own hardware instead of being sent to a central data center. The goal was to make something that is easy to use, fully private, and free. There are no subscriptions, no vendor lock-in, and no hidden limits. You run it on your own devices, and you stay in control of your data. GenDrive is completely open source and free to use. It is designed for people who want a simple, personal alternative to traditional cloud storage.
