fyi: Search made social

Hi Product Hunt! We are a small team of 3 young engineers who wanted to dive into building something end-to-end in the social news space. We believe that nowadays the quality of content on social media has plummeted, so much so that people are no longer sharing high quality articles/news/content with one another. So we built 'fyi', a community-driven social app that allows people to share interesting content with others whom they know and trust. Its main contribution is that it's built on top of search engine functionality to allow a seamless interaction between discovering content and sharing it. Main functionalities are: - A personalised feed showing content that people have chosen to share to you as well as the most popular and recent content from the broader community. - An inbuilt browser to discover content and share it. You can choose (in Settings) any underlying search engine (i.e. Google, Bing, Duck Duck Go). You can also share content from the Safari browser externally from 'fyi' as well. - Public comment threads for every piece of content. - Bookmarking to save content to read later. - Groups so you can choose to share content to a subset of your followers whom you are following (i.e. if a group is interested in fashion, you can create a group for them, and share related content straight to them). We hope you enjoy exploring this side-project we've been working on for the last couple of months (it is only iOS at the moment, apologies to the Android crowd). This is a super interesting concept that I definitely plan to delve into further! My only thought though, granted this is anecdotal and unsolicited feedback (so I apologize haha), is the name does overlap with an existing program that's gaining a lot of transaction now. It actually launched on PH too - https://www.producthunt.com/post... Not sure whether that's a good/bad thing but I wanted to give you guys a heads up! Excited to give this "fyi" a shot!
