Hi everyone! π
My name is Alexis, and I recently released my first Android app. Like many of you, I've struggled with digital friction. I'd check a text message and 20 minutes later see myself doom-scrolling on Tiktok or Instagram.
I realized that for me, a simple 'App Blocked' screen wasn't enough to break the habit. I didn't want a tool that just felt like a restriction. I wanted a tool that encouraged reflection. I needed something that reminded me of my own goals in the moment I was most likely to forget them. Thatβs why I built Future Self.
Why Future Self is different:
Personalized Motivation: You can attach a custom note or a meaningful image to any addicting app. Upload a photo of your project deadline, your fitness goal, or your family, whatever motivates you. When you try to open a distracting app, you'll see that photo as a reminder. I wanted to build something that felt less like restriction and more like self-dialogue.
Visual Accountability: Iβve included a usage heatmap so you can see your consistency over time and hold your 'Current Self' accountable.
Modern Android Craft: The app is built 100% with Jetpack Compose to ensure a fluid, Material 3 experience that feels native to your phone.
Future Self is now live on the Play Store, and Iβd be incredibly grateful for your feedback on the design and how it helps you navigate your own digital habits.
