Hey Hunters, this is my side project from last year, liberated from my previous employer and Open Sourced under GPL2. We are looking for community minded people to help to fine tune its detection capabilities and get it to pass the World Health Organisation Malaria tests that they put humans through. To put this in perspective they did approximately 50 million blood tests last year each of them examined by a trained lab technician. The problem is they need to do 100s of millions and a top lab tech can only do 10 per hour (you have to manually count the cells and the Malaria pathogen). Note Malaria kills more than 500,000 people a year most of them children, solving this problem could be globally impactful and I know some of the community lives in Malaria affected regions. You do the math, we can't actually test and count enough blood samples without computer vision. This is my contribution to solving that problem. Have a look at the site, fork the code and do whatever you want with it, improve it, build whatever you want. The cell detection and counting code could be useful as the basis for biohacking work on other blood based experiments. Please ask me anything.
