I like the concept of a more gamified Yelp (Possibly reminiscent of Foursquare). One thing that I agree with you on is that often-times we depend on Wisdom of the Crowd on Yelp / GReviews. Whereas, I can totally see a new category of creators being "food reviewers" on your app. If I find that my tastes align well with a certain reviewer, I'd probably go with their recommendation tbh rather than look at a bunch of images on Yelp and see which one is better.
One thing I'm suggesting (from thinking about it for about 5 minutes, so take it with a grain of salt - pun intended), is that you want to double down on the fact that we're following specific reviewers and the feed is personalized based on the reviewers I follow. Longer term, if this picks up, specific reviewers could receive incentives from restaurants to drive traffic their way. You could also end up partnering with DoorDash / GrubHub for an affiliate model where you directly order through them in your app.

@puneet_kohli Thanks for the feedback, you make really great points! Totally agree with you on doubling down on following specific reviewers. The tricky part right now (as with all apps of this ilk) is that there realistically isn't enough content yet to have a whole lot of choice of who to follow. But drilling down on that, the logical next step would be to focus on getting more food reviewers.
@globetro Again, with just 1 minute of thought put into it, you probably want to tap into the food reviewers of a local market (possibly, wherever you live) and find their Instagram pages. Offer them to migrate all their existing reviews, posts, etc. to your platform and get them to post onto your app with the intent of having future following on the app. If you have all the top reviews of one specific city, that might be just enough to get traction for that one city and expand from there.
@puneet_kohli Yep, that’s the same conclusion we came to as well (albeit definitely taking much longer than a minute to think of it).
