@smalzner @tonybrix If you use browsers like a web developer, the last place you want your IM clients is in a browser window. Franz keeps your IM clients under one roof (command-tab) not subject to browser crashes or too many open tabs. I love it.

One of the 5 apps that opens instantly when I open my mac. This new version is good. Things I would recommend : 1. Notifications tabs are directly on top. 2. a shortcut to select a tab directly (CMD+K to chose the tab you want per example). Other than that. This new design is really cool :)

@joseph_ayoub love to hear that! I'm working on a few tab bar customization options like position, size, display labels, ... I like the idea of having a visual tab switcher. Would you mind opening a feature request on Github?

No real cons, but the migration was a bit disappointing. All my logins were gone and I had to re-authenticate with each service, which with 2FA on is quite a hassle. So if Franz 5 Final could keep the previous auth tokens/cookies, it would make the upgrade smoother.

Don't tell me this is another Electron app with *no Linux support*. If so, that's just lazy and betrays a lack of understanding of the whole point of Electron.

@cacarr I want to clear one thing up... developing an electron app is optimizing your app for windows, mac and 5-10 more linux distros for <1% linux users. Usually this is hardly worth the effort. However, If you would take a look at the website you would realize that Franz is available for all platforms.

@smalzner So it is. I appreciate it. Didn't scroll down far enough on mobile. You might want to update this: "You can download Franz for free for Mac & Windows." You are overstating the amount of work *the developer* would need to do to "optimize" for various distros. And if they aren't going to bother, I'm sure most of their Mac and Windows users would much prefer fully native apps.

Neat idea! I live in a ton of messaging apps day-to-day, so this is super interesting to me. Going to give it a try later today. One piece of feedback - there's a lot of places in the copy where it says "Franz supports X, Y, Z... and many more". I'd love to have an actual URL I can go to where I can see *every* supported service. This might exist on a support page already, but it'd be great to surface that at a higher-level: linking it from the home page would be ideal.

It's working flawlessly with Slack and Facebook Messenger, but It works terribly with Hangouts (lack of threading), and doesn't support audio in Discord. That rendered the app useless for me. I had Chrome, Franz & Discord opened at the same time as opposed to just Chrome & Discord.

Pros:

Support for multiple google accounts at the same time.

Cons:

It's just another fancy Chrome instance. Lacks voice support in Discord and doesn't support threads in Hangouts.
