That is a GREAT idea. I've had something similar floating around in the back of my mind, but your comment just gave me the push I needed to make it a priority.
"Slang Battles" is officially on the development roadmap now. It'll take a little while to build out properly, but consider it as TBD! we'll get there.
Thank you so much for the amazing input. It's feedback like this that truly shapes the future of the app!

@gal_itach
This is a fantastic concept and an incredibly relatable origin story! I definitely had the "1950s textbook" experience when I tried to use textbook Spanish in Spain.
You nailed the core problem: traditional learning gives you the skeleton, but the slang is the soul. I love that you're focusing on high-quality audio right out of the gate—that's essential for getting the tone and rhythm right.
My question about the long-term vision: How will you handle the fact that slang changes so fast? Do you plan to incorporate a community-driven feedback loop so users can help update or submit new slang as it evolves?
Can't wait to see this grow! Good luck!
@ataliamThanks so much for the thoughtful feedback! Since Foulingo is currently a local app that works fully offline once downloaded, there are lots of exciting directions we can take in the future. Your idea of a community-driven feedback loop is definitely on the table, along with other possibilities like periodic updates or keeping a fully offline version for those who prefer it. I’ll be considering all of these options as we grow! I really appreciate your support and suggestions!
To celebrate the launch, I've just pushed a brand new feature live: Foulingo Daily Podcasts!
Every day you open the app, you'll now unlock a new mini-podcast. Each episode is a deep dive into the fascinating history and cultural context behind the "Word of the Day."
Why "Balagan" is the perfect word for a messy room in Hebrew, or how a "Plonker" became a classic British insult – these are the stories that bring language to life.
It’s the perfect companion for your commute, coffee break, or whenever you have a few minutes to learn something new and genuinely interesting.
This is the next step in making Foulingo more than just a dictionary, it's about discovering the soul of a language, one story at a time.
Check it out and let me know what you think!
@gal_itach It got me thinking... what if you took it a step further? Imagine "Slang Battles" where you could see insults from different categories go head-to-head. A 1700s Shakespearean insult vs. some modern Aussie slang would be absolutely hilarious. You could even frame them as mini rap battles.
Just a thought! Awesome launch, and congrats on the new feature. Already excited for tomorrow's episode.
Hey, Hunters!
Just a quick note: A few of you have reached out to me on LinkedIn mentioning you've left comments here, but for some reason, I'm not seeing them on my end yet. This is why I haven't been able to reply!
From what I understand, this can be a common Product Hunt platform issue with comments taking a little while to appear, so please don't think I'm ignoring you!
I'm here, actively refreshing, and also available on LinkedIn. The moment your comment goes live, it will get my full attention.
Thanks for your patience and for being part of this launch!

Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback! I'm thrilled you're enjoying the language selection and the new podcast feature. That's exactly the goal! To add that extra layer of depth and story. The idea of using the slang as an icebreaker is perfect! More fun stuff is already in the works. Cheers!
