Most font finders read what the CSS asks for. Fontsight shows the font that actually appeared on your screen, and tells you when the browser is faking bold or borrowing letters from another font. Hover any text to see the real typeface and who made it. Press W to swap the whole page into a different font live. It also matches paid fonts to free look-alikes, with the CSS ready to copy. Free Chrome extension for designers and developers. No account, no tracking.

Hey Product Hunt,
I'm a designer and I got tired of font finders giving me the wrong answer. They read the CSS stack, but that's not always what you're seeing. If a font doesn't load, the browser quietly swaps something else in, or fakes the bold, and the tool never notices.
So I built Fontsight. Hover text and it shows the font that actually rendered. Press W and the whole page re-sets in a different font, which is honestly the part I use most.
I also went down a rabbit hole measuring paid fonts against about 1,500 free ones. Closest free match for each, with the CSS to make it fit: https://fontsight.xyz/font-alternatives/sohne/
It's free, no account, no tracking. You can try it on the site without installing: https://fontsight.xyz
If it gets a font wrong somewhere, send me the link. That's the feedback I want most.
