Fontima is an app delivers fine-grained CSS for Google Fonts subsets. It optimizes that CSS on the fly producing the best possible results to get: the characters you need; from the families you want; only when required. And it does it with just a few clicks.

With Fontima I'm exploring new capabilities. It is a simple, yet powerful tool that makes it easy to optimize Google Fonts subsets/API requests, thus improving web/app performance (loading times) with the fine-grained resources you need. šŸ’” How to Use Fontima? 1. Bring the code from Google Fonts, 2. Choose the characters, 3. Get your CSS. That's it! āœ”ļø Pros of using Fontima: Download lighter files; Download fewer files (for most cases); Download fonts only when required. If you like the idea, please don't hesitate to leave your comments and suggestions. šŸ— Thank you! šŸ˜„

What about downloading the fonts to use them locally? Do you plan to implement it? Does it make sense? I always download fonts and host them myself in web projects.

@pronnenberg, interesting, good idea! It does make sense as long as you need it. The problem is that Google Fonts does not deliver .ttf files for character subsets. It does deliver .woff2 files, which I believe cannot be installed (directly) on either Windows or Mac. I'll check if there's a realistic solution for that.

Fontima sounds super nice for frontend peeps. Making Google Fonts loading smoother? Sign me up! By the way, a tutorial video would be dope to see it in action. Just saying!

I always keep the fonts local, but I love the idea, especially for people that do not have the ability to keep it local and want speed @leodeslf šŸ‘ŒšŸ»
