A local-first editor desktop application. It isolates every piece of data using Vaults, uses a single editor to accommodate Markdown, whiteboards, ER diagrams, mind maps, and rich text editing. Meanwhile, it features a microkernel + plugin architecture, supporting extensible plugins to integrate new file types and tools. It also brings AI agents directly into the workflow to maximize editing efficiency. Finally, all content always remains on the local device, offering a full sense of security.
Folyn — one app, all your context
I use more and more tools: a Markdown editor for notes, a whiteboard for diagrams, an ER tool for data models, plus three terminals running Claude Code, Codex, and Gemini CLI. Every context switch means switching windows, and every time I write something I have to first think "which App to put it in." Not to mention cloud syncing keeping me on edge — private notes, company documents, customer data, all on someone else's servers.
Folyn aims to solve exactly this: gather all context into one local app, with data always on your own disk.
1. Tool fragmentation: Markdown / whiteboard / ER diagrams / mind maps / JSON / CSV, all in one editor, no need to install a dozen Apps
2. Data sovereignty: local-first, Vault isolation, each project has an independent data space, no cloud account, no sync anxiety
3. AI vendor lock-in: built-in 6 CLI Agent adapters (Claude Code / Codex / Gemini CLI / Opencode / Pi /Qoder), switch models per task, bound to no one
4. AI and editing disconnected: built-in terminal, Claude Code can directly read/write the current document, and once AI finishes editing, the editor shows it immediately — "edit → invoke → paste back" becomes one step
5. Full-format preview: Office, audio/video, archives, e-books, presentations, engineering drawings, viewable without leaving the app
6. In-app terminal: side by side with the editor, file paths auto-synced, AI directly edits documents
7. Plugin system: microkernel + Plugin SDK, translation / schedule / Wiki / Clips / project analysis provided as plugins, supports third-party extensions
8. Voice input: real-time transcription + auto-polish, pasted directly at the cursor (currently macOS)
If you're also tired of switching windows between five or six tools, tired of handing private data to the cloud, tired of being locked to a single AI vendor — welcome to download and try:

I use it for work every day, and I hope it's useful to you too. If you encounter bugs, need a feature, or want a plugin, just open an issue on GitHub
this is a project still growing, and your feedback will directly influence the next step.
