Hi there PH – my name is Tobias, the developer of Floor Force One (FF1), an app that uses the TrueDepth camera on your iOS device to not only count your push-ups, but to give you real time feedback on your performance, and seriously in-depth post workout analysis.

FF1...

  • 💪 Isn't another rep counter – it tracks your full movement and gives real time feedback to perfect your rep.

  • 📊 Gives some seriously in-depth post workout metrics to geek out over.

  • 🎮 Makes pushups a bit more exciting by adding face filters, gamifications and social features that let you upload a recording of your workout to socials, or a more serious workout summary to Strava.

I built FF1 when I restarted my fitness journey for the nth time over and decided my ultimate goal would be to get to the stage of being able to do calisthenics. So I started with the most fundamental bodyweight exercise, pushups.

Being somebody who always has to find an app for everything, the first thing I did after my first few sets of pushups was look to see what apps there were to help.

The App Store is absolutely stacked with pushup apps. But after trying nearly all of them I found most are just rep counters where you're supposed to tap a big button on the screen with your nose as you come to the end of your rep. Some kick it up a notch and use the proximity sensor to count reps automatically, which is a great improvement, but these apps are still just rep counters.

FF1 counts your reps, but more importantly, it tracks your movement throughout the entire push-up cycle, giving a real time indication of how far you need to move up and back down to complete a full rep. With this real time tracking capability, the app also gives feedback when your movement is either slowing, or shortening, as in fatigue.

In addition to this realtime feedback during the exercise, the data collected from this movement tracking feeds into some very cool post workout analytics, like graphs showing your depth and uniformity of movement, as well as time spent in each state of the push-up cycle.

I've also tried to make the whole experience more fun by adding face filters, game-like achievements, and screen recording which makes it easy to show your workout with face filters and achievement unlocks included.

Thank you for your interest and I hope to hear feedback from hunters to help me improve this app that I have so far loved using for my own workouts.
